American beer

by on Sep.17, 2011, under Grill

Is it for real? Can you drink it? I know, there are many questions and let’s be honest: American beer doesn’t exactly have a particularly impressive track record. We haven’t forgotten brands like Bud Light or Miller Genuine Draft or methods like cold filtering, even though we have tried our best. Now, the Americans stand out as producers of two of my favorite beers and I’m happy to admit that I am impressed. The Boston Beer Company and the Brooklyn Brewery, considered micro breweries on their domestic markets (even though production meets or exceeds many European competitors), both have the decency of complying with the reinheitsgebot of 1486. I’ve been enjoying Sam Adams lager since it was first introduced in Sweden in 1992 and just recently, more or less by coincidence, stumbled across Brooklyn lager. Enjoy responsibly. Enjoy chilled.
